Owatrol Seasonite New Wood Protection 1 Litre
Owatrol Seasonite New Wood Protection 1 Litre £18.85
For all new wood installations such as decking, cladding, log cabins etc. allows new wood to weather properly, i.e. allows trapped moisture to escape gradually while preventing other rain and moisture from getting in.. This minimises and in most cases eliminates splitting, warping, cupping etc.fungicide fights algae growth which makes decks slippery.ideal as first treatment to allow wood settle and become receptive.coverage: from 5 to 7 sq meters per litre depending on porosity (hard or soft wood) . Seasonite’s job is to allow the new wood ‘weather’ in a controlled manner in the first six to twelve months when it is at its most vulnerable. this is acheived by controlling the moisture movement in and out of the wood, i.e. it stabilises the wood to its local environment. it is this controlling of the moisture in and out of the wood that dramatically minimises the potential for it to split, warp, crack etc. To exaggerate everything and put it in simplistic terms; when not protected, the wood will expand and contract 6 inches every times it gets wet and dries out, but when protected with seasonite, the wood will expand / contract only 1 inch. it is this restriction of movement that minimises the wood’s ability to warp, crack etc. Splitting and cracking etc, generally takes place during changes in weather conditions, from sun to rain to sun etc, which causes the damp wood to suddenly expand and then crack and so on. Did you ever ‘hear your deck creak’ after a shower of rain followed by a bit of sun?

why does it do that? ‘the wood absorbs the water so causing it to expand, and as soon as the rain stops and the sun comes out again, the wood starts to dry causing it to contract (shrink). it is this constant expanding and contracting that the wood experiences due to wet and dry cycles that causes it to split, warp, crack etc so damaging it. Seasonite controls this movement of moisture in and out of the wood, thereby controlling the woods movement and dramatically reducing the woods potential to split etc, so keeping the wood looking new longer. An easy-to-apply, one-coat treatment, should be applied as soon as possible after installing your deck, log cabin, chalet, cladding, wooden garden furniture, shed or any other new outdoor timber structure. plain common sense! it’s a shame to see lovely planks of expensive wood with ugly big splits and cracks all over it.
