This can look particulary lovely when backlit. In late spring and early summer you can see bowl-shaped white flowers nestled amongst the foliage, and these are followed by light brown seedheads. It looks great in either a mixed border or gravel garden.Garden care: In frost-prone areas, protect in winter using a thick, dry mulch such as shredded bark. Divide large clumps in spring.

Sowing Instructions for beetroot
Sow seeds March to July. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (½in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart. Prefers well drained, moist, rich soil.
Growing Instructions for beetroot
Thin seedlings to 5cm (2in) apart for ‘baby beets’ when large enough to handle, or 7cm (3in) for larger, heavier cylindrical roots.
Harvesting beetroots
Beets can be stored by lifting the remaining roots; twisting off the tops and storing in boxes of slightly damp sand in a frost-free shed or garage.
