Crocus has these new items today

orchid-cymbidium
orchid-cymbidium £29.99
One of the easiest orchids to care for, these are great for beginners, and with a flowering period of up to a couple of months, what more could you ask for. Each year in winter or early spring, upright flower spikes will emerge from amongst their strappy foliage. The tops of these spikes are covered with their gloriously exotic-looking flowers. Each of our Cymbidiums will currently have two flower spikes, which carry at least seven buds or flowers on each spike. The colour of the flowers may vary according to availability, and they will be delivered to you (or your lucky loved one) in a matt gold pot.Position: They like to be kept in a spot with bright, filtered light with good air circulation in summer and then moved to the sunniest spot you can find in winter. They need cool evening temperatures (min 10C) to produce a bumper crop of flowers. Try to keep them away from central heating radiators if you can. They love humidity, so a bright kitchen or bathroom would be ideal.Soil: Specialist orchid compostWater: Keep the compost moist during the warmer months, but in winter you should reduce the amount it gets, and only water them occasionally. Ideally when watering, you should let them stand in a tray of water (or kitchen sink) so they can soak up as much as they like for an hour or two. Afterwards, let the excess water drain away completely. It is always best to give them a a good soak when they get quite dry, rather than watering little and often. Their preference is for soft, tepid water.Humidity: Mist the leaves with water a couple of times a day, especially if they are in a heated room.General care: Feed them with a specialist orchid fertiliser every third time you water to help keep them in tip top condition. They do not mind being overcrowded in their pots, so you only need to repot them when the growth starts to suffer. They usually only flower once a year, but you can help make the flowers last longer by turning down the heating a few notches.Plants will be sent out with care instructions. If you order other items and wish to receive these before the date selected for your cymbidium you will need to select split delivery in the shopping wheelbarrow.

Crocus reduced the price on these products today

Mexican giant hyssop
Mexican giant hyssop was £5.99 now £4.99
Position: full sunSoil: well-drained, fertile soilRate of growth: average Flowering period: July to OctoberHardiness: hardy (borderline)Hyssops are great for adding vertical accents to a border, with whorls of long-lasting, tiny flowers arranged like a bottlebrush and pointed, aromatic fresh green leaves that are attractive to butterflies and bees. They are short-lived though, and may need replacing every few years, especially after a cold or wet winter. Blue Fortune has loose spires of lilac-blue flowers from July to October and peppermint-scented leaves. This upright, bushy perennial is perfect for the middle of a sheltered, sunny border. Try it as part of a Mediterranean scheme, with grey-leaved plants, or among ornamental grasses.Garden care: Don’t cut back the faded flower-stems in until early spring, as  they provide interest in the winter months. Lift and divide congested colonies in spring.
