Paper Bush
Paper Bush £19.99
Position: full sun or light dappled shadeSoil: fertile, moist but well-drained soilRate of growth: averageFlowering period: February to April Hardiness: frost hardyA native to woodlands in the Himalayas and China, this gorgeous plant is closely related to Daphne. It is most highly prized for its flowers, which appear in clusters on the tips of the bare stems, and open in late winter. They have a strong scent which will help attract the toughest, winter insects, and when in bud the covering of silky white hairs make them look as if they are covered in frost. A great plant for the winter garden, they rarely succumb to pests and diseases, but will need a sheltered spot.Garden care: They can tolerate temperatures down to -5C, but in colder areas it is best to plant them against a sunny, south facing wall. Apply a generous layer of mulch in autumn and cut away any damaged or crossing branches in early spring.

pear - double U cordon
pear – double U cordon £89.99
Position: full sunSoil: fertile, well-drained soilRate of growth: slow-growingFlowering period: AprilFlower colour: pure whiteOther features: juicy, tender fleshed pearsHardiness: fully hardyPollination Group: B – flowering mid seasonRegarded by many to be one of the best dessert pears, it produces medium to large, juicy fruits with tender flesh that are ready to harvest from early autumn. This is a hardy cultivar that has some resistance to scab. This pear tree has been grown specifically in a double U cordon shape, which makes it easier to pick and is great for growing against walls, garden dividers or as screening. These trees have been grown for a substantial number of years to form this lovely shape. Garden care: Pears naturally shed a small quantity of the developing fruits in midsummer. After this has occurred thin out the remaining pears, leaving one pear per cluster. Add a high-nitrogen feed in spring. The trees are 90cm wide at the widest point (between the top two U’s) and are about 1.3m tall.Pollination Information: This pear belongs to pollination group B, so you will need need to plant one other different variety of pear to guarantee cross pollination, and a subsequent bumper crop. Ideally this should come from the same pollination group, however it is possible to use one from group A or C as well. Please note that as we grow these trees especially for you, we need to take full payment when you place your order so as to reserve stock for you. The trees will then be despatched to you during November. If you want other items on your order delivered before hand, select split delivery in the wheelbarrow when placing your order.
