Kale and Brussels sprouts are from the same species and their genetics are very similar even though their appearance is different. This means that they can cross-fertilise and cause new hybrids to be created. It was by this natural process that Petit Posy was born.This intriguing new variety is very hardy and can be grown a bit like brussels sprouts, standing happily in the garden throughout winter. The purple and green ‘buttons’ the plants produce are loose and frilly-edged, with a delicious flavour that is more akin to spring greens than brussels sprouts.
