Thompson & Morgan have a large variety of courgette seeds available. Courgettes are easy to grow. Start the seeds off in a warm greenhouse or on the kitchen windowsill. Plant into bigger pots after they have a couple of leaves and when it’s not going to be frosty anymore you can plant them out. They like a nice rich soil and plant firmly so the stem doesn’t rock in the breeze. They’ll have beautiful yellow flowers behind which the courgette forms.
They’ll start cropped easily and you can feed them a liquid feed (eg seaweed feed) every week. You can get many different varieties including ball shape ones as well as traditional dark green long straight ones. If you don’t pick them when they’re small they will get bigger but they’re best eaten when young. If you love courgettes them 3 plants should do you – providing you’ve got a neighbour or like to make chutney for the odd occaisions you’ll have too many.
I love eating them just plain fried until they’re starting to go really dark. It’s a delicious sweet taste that you can also enjoy raw, turn into chutney or put into italian pasta sauces. You can roast them in the oven too!
They’re really great to eat and can be quite prolific in production! Water them well in hot weather and keep them moist as much as possible. They will spread quite a bit and the leaves can be a bit prickly sometimes.

They’re a fantastic vegetable that you can really taste the freshness of too.
