Polytunnels

Suttons Seeds have three polytunnels.
A polytunnel can help extend the growing season at both ends! It’ll allow plants to get a stronger and better start in the spring and allow you to grow plants that you can’t grow outside!
It reduces the exposure to the worst of the weather so your crops don’t get battered by rain or frozen by frosts. It gives you a space to start seeds off. A polytunnel can give your spring salad crops a head start! Use it for plants in the ground or have potted plants in there and then move them outside as the weather improves.
Put your polytunnel so it’s longest side runs from north to south! Prepare the ground well first of all – so you have a weed free area to erect it on.
Bob Flowerdew has a polytunnel within his polytunnel and this helps him grow more delicate crops inside the inner one.

Overwinter things in it too – make use of it all year round! There are several winter salad leaves that will grow and you can start off early peas and broad beans, as well as Japanese onions, garlic. Also winter lettuces, raddichio, spring greens, swiss Chard, Perpetual Spinach, True Spinach and anything else you want to try!
