It is a wonderfully versatile material which is light-weight, low maintenance and most of all frost-proof. They are ideal for use indoors as they are outdoors, they are supplied without drainage holes although if required they can be pre drilled by us. Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer £119.99
Chafer grubs, the larvae of cock chafer or maybug, can cause extensive damage to lawns. They are often found feeding on grass roots causing yellow patches in the lawn and the damage can look like drought. Heavy infestations attract foxes, rooks, magpies and crows, which scratch out the loosened turf to feed on the grubs during late summer to spring. The grubs have plump, white bodies with brown heads, have three pairs of legs and are curved like the letter C. The biological control for these grubs is a parasitic nematode called Heterorhabditis. These search out for the grubs, entering the bodies and producing bacteria which kills the grubs but feeds the nematodes. The grubs die within a few days, turning from white to brown, and the nematode moves on to its next victim. Just Chafer Grub contains one sachet of 50 million Heterorhabditis nematodes. One pack will treat 100sq metres of lawn. The sachet needs to be mixed in 10 litre of water. How to use Just Chafer Grubs: The nematodes should only be applied if the soil temperature is above 14°C. The lawn needs to be moist when applying and should be kept moist for two weeks afterwards. Avoid using chemical pesticides before, during or after applying the nematodes.
