Dianthus Pink Fizz ('WP10 Xav04') (Scent First Series) (pot pink)

Dianthus Pink Fizz (‘WP10 Xav04’) (Scent First Series) (pot pink) was £4.99 now £1.99
Position: full sun Soil: rich but well-drained, alkaline to neutral soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: May to August Hardiness: fully hardy Deliciously scented, gently ruffled flowers crown neat plants from early summer. The combination of sugar pink blooms and grey-green foliage is very pretty and will mix well with most pastel shades, particularly blues and purples. Plant them at the front of the border or into patio pots, where you can easily smell them each time you pass. Garden care: Dianthus should be trimmed back lightly after flowering to promote new basal growth. Prune more closely in spring, as new shoots emerge to maintain a tidy shape. To maintain healthy growth, it is important to make sure the plants are protected from excessive winter wet.

Dianthus Romance ('WP09 Wen04') (Scent First) (PBR) (pot pink)

Dianthus Romance (‘WP09 Wen04’) (Scent First) (PBR) (pot pink) was £4.99 now £2.49
Position: full sun Soil: rich but well-drained, alkaline to neutral soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: May to August Hardiness: fully hardy Forming an evergreen mat of grey-green foliage, this ground-covering pink is useful for rockeries and alpine beds as well as front of border positions and pots. For a long period in summer it is crowned with lots of highly-scented double flowers. Each bloom has serrated petal edges and a darker band of colour near the eye. A treat for the senses. Garden care: Dianthus should be trimmed back lightly after flowering to promote new basal growth. Prune more closely in spring, as new shoots emerge to maintain a tidy shape. To maintain healthy growth, it is important to make sure the plants are protected from excessive winter wet.

Jasminum polyanthum (scented Chinese jasmine on a hoop)

Jasminum polyanthum (scented Chinese jasmine on a hoop) was £9.99 now £5.99
One of the photos on this page shows the plant with gift wrap. This is not included in the price, however you may add gift wrap (for an additional charge of £4.95) during the order process. Position: sun to part shade Soil: moist, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: April – May Hardiness: tender (will need winter protection) A vigorous twining climber with attractive dark, glossy evergreen leaves. The real attraction though are the masses of highly scented star-shaped white flowers that open from pink buds. A good choice for covering the wall of an unheated conservatory, or for smothering a wigwam of canes set into a pot. When grown inside in a warm conservatory they flower from late winter, but in colder temperatures the flowers appear from spring to summer. Garden care: Grow in a pot on a sunny patio with shade from midday sun during the summer, and move to a protected spot with a minimum temperature of 10C during the winter. Feed every two weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Prune to fit the growing frame in late winter or early spring.

Clematis 'Madame Julia Correvon' (clematis (group 3))

Clematis ‘Madame Julia Correvon’ (clematis (group 3)) was £12.99 now £10.99
Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: fast-growing Flowering period: July to November Flower colour: wine red bell-shaped flowers Other features: long flowering period from mid-summer through autumn Hardiness: fully hardy From mid-summer to late autumn, wine red star-shaped flowers, with yellow anthers, cover the plant. It is a more compact variety which makes it perfect for growing in a container. As with most clematis of the viticella group it also shows good resistance to clematis wilt. Garden care: Cut back stems to a pair of strong buds 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground level before growth begins in early spring. Mulch in late winter with garden compost or well-rotted manure but avoid the immediate crown.

Clematis Étoile Violette (clematis (group 3))

Clematis Étoile Violette (clematis (group 3)) was £12.99 now £10.99
Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained, neutral soil Rate of growth: fast-growing Flowering period: July to September Flower colour: deep purple Other features: N/A Hardiness: fully hardy This vigorous, late summer-flowering clematis produces a profusion of deep purple flowers with creamy-yellow centres from July to September. Looks stunning scrambling through trees, shrubs and climbing roses. Stands up well to wind and is resistant to clematis wilt. Garden care: In early spring cut back the previous year’s stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground-level and apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant, avoiding the immediate crown.

Clematis montana var. rubens 'Pink Perfection' (clematis (group 1))

Clematis montana var. rubens ‘Pink Perfection’ (clematis (group 1)) was £12.99 now £10.99
Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained, neutral soil Rate of growth: fast-growing Flowering period: May and June Flower colour: pink Hardiness: fully hardy Sweetly scented, pink flowers in May and June amid purple-flushed, mid- green leaves. This vigorous, deciduous clematis is ideal for covering a wall or fence in sun or partial shade. Since it often outgrows the space intended for it, for a small garden we’d advise the less-vigorous Clematis montana var. rubens ‘Freda’. Garden care: No routine pruning is necessary. If the spread of the plant needs to be restricted prune immediately after flowering, cutting back overlong shoots to healthy buds. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
