Gaura lindheimeri 'Freefolk Rosy' (PBR) (gaura)

Gaura lindheimeri ‘Freefolk Rosy’ (PBR) (gaura) was £7.99 now £4.99
Position: full sun Soil: fertile, moist but well-drained soil Rate of growth: average to fast-growing Flowering period: May to September Hardiness: fully hardy Pink-edged creamy white flowers form in airy panicles, that sway and flutter in the breeze above the cream, green and purple variegated foliage. A beautiful new addition, that looks sublime when teamed with ornamental grasses. It is not too big either, so will also be quite happy in a pot provided it is kept well watered. Garden care: Resist the temptation to cut back after the plant has flowered, as it often takes on beautiful autumn tints, particularly in cold weather. Cut back and divide large colonies in spring.

Fothergilla x intermedia 'Blue Shadow' (American wych hazel)

Fothergilla x intermedia ‘Blue Shadow’ (American wych hazel) was £29.99 now £14.99
Position: full sun to light shade Soil: fertile, moist, peaty, acidic soil. Rate of growth: average Flowering period: April to May Hardiness: fully hardy This wonderful new shrub has recently been introduced from the USA. It has beautiful, blue-flushed leaves, which create quite a spectacle w2hen they turn rich shades of orange, red and yellow in the autumn. In spring, the dainty white flower clusters appear, and these too look pretty impressive against the smokey backdrop of the foliage. It makes a lovely addition to a blue and white border. Garden care: Keep well mulched with composted bark. Carefully trim back in April, taking care not to cut into old wood.

Fatsia japonica 'Spider's Web' (Japanese aralia)

Fatsia japonica ‘Spider’s Web’ (Japanese aralia) was £19.99 now £14.99
Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: September to October Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection) This new fatsia is primarily grown for its handsome foliage, which looks as though it has been variously been dusted with icing sugar. It makes a wonderful specimen, particularly when planted near white-flowering plants that compliment the leaf variegations. It can also be used to help add light and colour to areas or lightly dappled shade. Garden care: Prune lightly in mid to late spring, trimming shoots that spoil the symmetry. Protect plants from cold, drying winds.
