Camellia x williamsii 'Anticipation' (camellia)

Camellia x williamsii ‘Anticipation’ (camellia) was £19.99 now £14.99
Position: partial shade (but not east-facing) Soil: moist but well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil (or ericaceous compost for container-grown specimens) Rate of growth: fast-growing Flowering period: February and March Hardiness: fully hardy An extremely hardy camellia that produces large, ruffled, peony-form, crimson flowers in late winter and early spring. This handsome, evergreen shrub has glossy, bright green leaves, and is one of the most popular and easy-to-grow forms of camellia. Narrowly upright in habit, it’s ideal for use in a large pation container or for creating an informal, flowering screen. Garden care: To prevent damage to the emerging buds and flowers protect from cold, dry winds and early morning sun. Water established plants in dry weather to prevent bud drop. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser in mid-spring and again in June. Top-dress annually with shredded bark or well-rotted leaf mould. After flowering lightly trim or prune any branches that spoil the appearance of the plant.

Acer palmatum (Palmatum Group) 'Bi Ho' (Japanese maple)

Acer palmatum (Palmatum Group) ‘Bi Ho’ (Japanese maple) was £29.99 now £19.99
Position: partial shade Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained neutral to acid soil Rate of growth: slow-growing Flowering period: April to May Hardiness: fully hardy This gorgeous Japanese maple will provide year-round interest. The leaves emerge with a salmon flush in spring before turning yellow-green, then in autumn, they take on rich yellow and orange tones before they fall. Its golden yellow bark, which seems to glow in the winter garden is the feature that stands out long after the leaves are fallen. Relatively compact, it will make a beautiful stand-alone specimen and can even be grown in a large pot. Garden care: Add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser around the base of the plant in late spring. No routine pruning is required, just remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when they are fully dormant.

Acer palmatum (Palmatum Group) 'Taylor' (PBR) (Japanese maple)

Acer palmatum (Palmatum Group) ‘Taylor’ (PBR) (Japanese maple) was £29.99 now £19.99
Position: partial shade Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained neutral to acid soil Rate of growth: slow-growing Flowering period: April to May Hardiness: fully hardy An attractive new cultivar, with lime green and cream foliage, which emerges in spring with a vivid salmon pink hue. As the leaves mature the pink fades but the variegation remains attractive throughout the summer. In autumn, the leaf colour changes again, turning lime green before they drop. Compact enough for large patio pots or even creating height in the smallest gardens, try underplanting it with early spring-flowering bulbs for added impact. Garden care: Add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser around the base of the plant in late spring. No routine pruning is required, just remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when they are fully dormant.
