Narcissus 'Spring Dawn' (daffodil bulbs)

Narcissus ‘Spring Dawn’ (daffodil bulbs) was £4.99 now £2.99
Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: well-drained soil (for container-grown bulbs use two parts John Innes No2 compost to one part sharp grit) Rate of growth: average Flowering period: January to February Flower colour: white Other features: narrow, strap-like leaves; contact with the sap may cause skin irritation Hardiness: half hardy Bulb size: 12/14 An exceptionally early flowering variety, that will produce its elegant, bi-coloured blooms as early as January. The flowers are very pretty, each with a large soft lemon cup, which is surrounded by a creamy white perianth (collar). These top stout and short(ish) stems, so will take poor weather in their stride, and will make them ideal for pots and windowboxes. ‘Spring Dawn’ is brilliant for extending the season and providing a much needed splash of colour in the late winter garden. Garden care: Wearing gloves plant bulbs 10-15cm (4-6in) deep and a similar distance apart from late summer to mid autumn. After flowering feed with a balanced fertiliser, dead-head and allow the leaves to die back naturally.

An excellent plant for naturalising in a woodland setting – the leaves tend to be larger in partial shade. Garden care: Plant the tubers 10 deep and 15 – 20cm apart. De Wit 5 tine hand rake with short handle

De Wit 5 tine hand rake with short handle was £25.99 now £12.99
The Dutch are rightly regarded as makers of the finest gardening tools. De Wit have been around longer than anyone. They started in 1898 and the 4th generation of De Wits are now in charge of the business; one is a trained wood turner, the other trained as a blacksmith. De Wit forge their tools from carbon steel in the traditional way. Carbon Steel is naturally tougher than stainless steel and is not prone to metal fatigue. De Wit also burnish their steel. This not only helps to protect it for longer but gives it a patina that blackens it – just like traditional English tools from the Edwardian era. All De Wit tools have turned hardwood handles of oiled Ash. Ash is not only very strong but resists shock better than woods like oak or beech, which is why it was traditionally used for Axe handles. The result is a beautiful tool to hold in the hand but rugged and durable. They feel so natural to use that they are like an extension of the person that uses them. These tools will give you a lifetime of use, until you hand them on. It is an offence to sell knives to persons under the age of 18 years.

Camellia x vernalis 'Yuletide' (camellia)

Camellia x vernalis ‘Yuletide’ (camellia) was £29.99 now £14.99
Position: partial shade (but not east-facing) Soil: moist but well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil (or ericaceous compost for container-grown specimens) Rate of growth: average Flowering period: November to January Hardiness: fully hardy Glossy dark green leaves provide a sumptuous backdrop for the profusion of yellow-eyed, red flowers, when they appear in late autumn and early winter. Their colouring is very striking – and is perfect for the build up to the Christmas season, but the dark green foliage offers year-round structure and interest. If left to grow naturally, this is a relativly compact shrub with a pyramidal habit, but it can also be trained against a wall, or grown in a large pot if space is at a premium. Garden care: To prevent damage to the emerging buds and flowers protect from cold, dry winds and early morning sun. Water established plants in dry weather to prevent bud drop. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser in mid-spring and again in June. Top-dress annually with shredded bark or well-rotted leaf mould. After flowering, lightly trim or prune any branches that spoil the appearance of the plant.

Camellia sasanqua 'Winter's Snowman' (camellia)

Camellia sasanqua ‘Winter’s Snowman’ (camellia) was £29.99 now £14.99
Position: partial shade (but not east-facing) Soil: moist but well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil (or ericaceous compost for container-grown specimens) Rate of growth: average Flowering period: October to December Hardiness: fully hardy An early flowering camellia, that will produce either semi-double or anemone-form flowers (and sometimes both on the same plant), in autumn and into winter. A useful and decorative evergreen, has an upright habit that makes it useful for smaller gardens, and as it does not get too big, it can be grown in a large pot, provided you make sure it is kept well fed and watered – very handy if your soil is not naturally acidic. Garden care: To prevent damage to the emerging buds and flowers protect from cold, dry winds and early morning sun. Water established plants in dry weather to prevent bud drop. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser in mid-spring and again in June. Top-dress annually with shredded bark or well-rotted leaf mould. apple 'Cox's Orange Pippin' (apple)

apple ‘Cox’s Orange Pippin’ (apple) was £24.99 now £14.99
Position: full sun Soil: fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average to fast-growing Ultimate size (M26): 2.7×2.7m (9x9ft) Flowering period: April and May Flower colour: white Other features: first class, juicy, dessert apples (early to mid-October) Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection, particularly in colder parts of the country) Pollination Group: Partially self fertile – but for a bumper crop use a apple from group C – flowering mid season This upright, spreading tree is covered in pure white, cup-shaped flowers in mid- and late spring, followed by first class, juicy dessert apples for harvesting in early to mid-October. A moderately vigorous variety producing arguably the best British eating apple, it prefers a sheltered spot so is not best suited to colder parts of the country. Garden care: Keep the base of the tree weed free, fertilise at the beginning of each year and water regularly during hot, dry spells. Remove damaged or crossing branches during the dormant season Pollination Information: This apple belongs to pollination group C, so you will need to plant one other different variety of apple to guarantee cross pollination, and a subsequent bumper crop. Ideally this should come from the same pollination group, however it is possible to use one from group B or D as well.

Ezy camping stove

Ezy camping stove was £99.99 now £74.99
This ezy stove gives you the freedom to cook anywhere. It gives out over 2kw of heat and is three times more efficient than an open fire, producing a fraction of the smoky emissions and enabling you to cook a large meal with a handful of twigs. The heat is also adjustable by increasing or reducing the fuel supply. This stove is sturdy and stable, suitable for a full size pot, kettle, frying pan or griddle; whatever you are cooking with. It is also lightweight, compact and easily stowed in the car or camper van, ready for outdoor meals, whenever you like. The clever mix of insulation and air venting ensures an intense burn. Primary air is drawn up under the fuel and secondary air is drawn in over the fuel. The double walled stainless steel combustion chamber provides just the right environment for combustion. So simple to use, all that’s needed to begin cooking are a few twigs, the dryer the better. Just light a small fire inside the combustion chamber, then insert the sticks horizontally into the stove. Within a minute or two, the stove is ready for cooking. As the fuel burns, nudge the sticks in according to the intensity of the heat required. Please note this stove is designed for outdoor use only. Use only outdoors or under well ventilated shelters. Do not use in tents or other enclosed spaces. Care should also be taken to protect grass and surfaces while using this stove and particularly for prolonged use. Measurements: Height: 30.5cm Width top: 31cm Width bottom: 33cm Weight: 2.8kg
