Blue Agapanthus (Agapanthus africanus) produces beautiful blue flower spikes in June/July. Commonly known as the Lily of the Nile, Agapanthus grow to a height of around 90cm Agapanthus like moist but well drained soil and to be grown in full sun. Ideal border and container plants. Keep well watered during growth. Apply a winter mulch, or for containers, bring indoors and keep almost dry and frost free. Agapanthus flower better when they are container grown and pot bound.

Highly scented and pollen free! Lily Broken Hear produces absolutely gorgeous pink double flowers in July / August. Growing to around 1m in height, this lily makes an attractive flower in any flowerbed. Lilies like well-drained, moisture retentive soil with plenty of organic material. they like sun or partial shade and protection from strong winds. Good for flower beds, borders, wild gardens and containers on the patio or balcony. When planting lilies in containers, plant deeply and keep well watered. A thick mulch is recommended to retain moisture. Remove faded flowers but do not cut back the stems before autumn. These bulbs do not require lifting in the autumn.

Lily Friso is a very tall flowering lily with beautiful white blooms and a rosy red centre. It can grow up to 120cm within its first year and will produce flowers from June to July. This lily is great for beds and borders.  Lilies like well-drained, moisture retentive soil with plenty of organic material. they like sun or partial shade and protection from strong winds. Good for flower beds, borders, wild gardens and containers on the patio or balcony. When planting lilies in containers, plant deeply and keep well watered. Dahlia Painted Lady (2 tubers)

Dahlia Painted Lady produce striking mottled flowers – pink with crimson flecks during the summer. Growing to a height of 80cm they don’t get as tall as some of their friends. Something a little different, we’ve included them in our ‘Select Range’. Dahlias like any well cultivated, garden soil with a good supply of organic material. Sunny sites away from strong winds. Use as a border or bedding plant dahlias make good cut flowers. Short varieties can also be grown in containers on the patio or balcony. Dahlias vary in height, so plant at the front or back of borders or in pots, according to height. Keep the plants well watered during growth. Either lift tubers after flowering and store frost free in dry compost or particularly in warmer areas, cover with a mulch over winter. For early flowering, tubers may be started off in boxes in April; use a light soil mixed with compost. Keep slightly moist, cool and free from frost. When he danger of frosts has passed, plant out the sprouted tubers. If used as a cut flower, cut the stems on when the flower has fully developed.

Flowering in the Summer, Zantedeschia Aethiopica – commonly known as the Arum Lily, produces delicate white flowers. These striking plants grow to around 50cm in height. Zantedeschia like a moist, humus rich soil or a rich potting compost and to be in sun or partial shade. They produce long lasting flowers which are good for borders and outdoor containers. Plants in open ground will need protecting from frosts or lifting and storing in compost or vermiculite.

Begonia Giant Pendula Yellow (3 tubers)

Ideal in hanging baskets, these giant yellow pendula begonia tubers are an ideal summer flower. Much larger than a standard begonia flower – these bulbs will certainly get the neighbours talking. Begonias like a rich, moist garden soil with good drainage. Preferably in a semi-shaded place, although they will bloom in full sun. Suitable for flower beds, borders, containers on the patio and balcony. Also suitable as a houseplant. Plant outdoors, hollow part uppermost when all danger of frost has passed. Keep the soil moist and remove faded flowers. At the end of the season, lift the tubers, cut the stems off just above the tuber and store in a dry soil at 4 – 10C. For early flowering, place tubers close together and level with the soil in trays containing damp compost and sand. Try to maintain a temperature of between 7 and 16C. Plant outdoors only when all danger of frost has passed.

Gorgeous golden yellow flowers on attractive dark foliage. Canna Chocolate Sunrise is an excellent garden perennial to plant in a cottage garden themed flower bed. Growing to around 90cm in height, it produces these beautiful blooms throughout the summer. Canna rhizomes like a moist, humus rich soil and to be in full sun. Dig-over the ground and add well-rotted manure if possible. Ideal for flower beds, outdoor containers and as focal points. Cannas are best started indoors in containers of moist compost at a temperature of 20C. Water sparingly until foliage develops and once well grown and rooted, plant out into containers or flower beds. Water regularly. Cannas aren’t frost hardy, so lift, clean and divide before the first frosts. Store in a frost free area until planting time again.

Iris Sultan’s Palace is a type of bearded iris producing rich velvet, burgundy blooms in May – June. Growing to around 80cm in height, they’re great in flowerbeds, borders or pots and containers. Iris like full sun or partial shade and an open soil with plenty of humus and good drainage. They naturalise well in rockeries edges of borders and containers. Remove faded flowers and apply fertiliser four/five weeks after flowering. When clumps become too crowded lift divide and replant about 2 weeks after flowering.
