Almond 'Robijn' - 1 bare root almond tree

Almond ‘Robijn’ – 1 bare root almond tree £34.99
This compact nut tree is well worth growing for the blooms alone! A showy display of pale pink spring blossom is followed by soft shelled, sweet almonds that can be harvested from late August. Almond ‘Robijn’ is reassuringly hardy, but will need a frost free winter and a warm dry summer in order to produce a crop. In such conditions, you can look forward to your first harvest just 3 years from planting. This modern variety shows good resistance to peach leaf curl. Grafted onto a semi dwarfing ‘St Julian’ rootstock, Almond ‘Robijn’ remains neat and compact, forming a medium sized spreading tree that makes a lovely patio centrepiece. Although self fertile, pollination can be greatly improved if a second almond tree is planted close by. This variety is grafted onto a peach rootstock. It is recommended to avoid planting near peaches as hybridisation may occur resulting in bitter nuts. Height and spread: 3.5m (11’).
