Wisteria ‘Caroline’ is an early-flowering wisteria, producing abundant lilac-blue flowers with a wonderful fragrance. A deciduous climber with mid-green, pinnate leaves, ‘Caroline’ is perfect for training on a wall or pergola. It is best grown in full sun, and can even be left to grow through other, well-established, trees and shrubs. Height: 9m (30’). Spread 4m (13’). Supplied as a bare root plant.

Recent Agapanthus breeding has brought us Agapanthus ‘Bluestorm’ which produces more flower stems than any other variety and flowers for much longer! The showy umbels of light blue flowers appear from June through to August on stiff, upright stems which are perfect for cutting. Growing to a maximum height of 30" (75cm), this compact African Blue Lily is perfect for growing in patio containers or borders where it’s semi-evergreen, strap-shaped leaves and multitide of flowers adds strong architectural form. Agapanthus are also very drought-tolerant - great for hot dry borders! Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 50cm (20").

Syringa ‘Katherine Havemeyer’, a beautiful deciduous lilac shrub, is the perfect, trouble-free addition to any garden. Its lavender-blue flowers are produced on a background of heart-shaped foliage and the plant requires minimal maintenance, making the spreading shrub a firm favourite in cottage garden borders. It is loved by gardeners and wildlife alike, attracting many species of butterfly, bees and beneficial insects. The wonderfully frangranced flowers appear in profusion in May and June. An easy to maintain, compact garden shrub, Pieris japonica ‘Passion’ is at its best in spring, when whorled, vivid red foliage appear as well as a profusion of small pink-red flowers. This ‘Lily of the Valley Shrub’ requires minimum pruning, but it can be pruned to a required size and this will encourage vigorous flowering. A fabulous new variety of Mexican Orange Blossom which becomes smothered in pretty white, fragrant flowers in April, and again in late summer and early autumn. Choisya x dewitteana ‘White Dazzler’ is a compact evergreen shrub with small, slender, glossy green leaves which are attractive all year round. Awarded a prestigious RHS AGM, this rounded low-maintenance shrub provides permanent structure in the garden, working well in mixed borders, cottage gardens and coastal gardens. It can even be grown as an informal evergreen hedge. Height and spread: 2m (6.5’).

Also known as Mountain Witch Alder, this relative of the witch hazel is a compact deciduous shrub with glossy, textured, deep green leaves. In May, as the leaves are unfurling, masses of fragrant white, fluffy bottlebrush flowers smother the shrub with colour. As autumn approaches the leaves take on brilliant red and orange tones, which Fothergilla major is famed for. A neat, slow-growing habit and fantastic seasonal colour make Fothergilla major a valuable specimen in mixed borders, cottage gardens and the edges of woodland gardens. This RHS AGM variety will happily grow in partial shade but the best leaf colour will be seen in a sunny position. Height: 2.5m (8’). Spread: 2m (6.5’).

Viburnum tinus ‘Lisarose’ is the perfect choice for a winter display when colour is scarce in your garden. Masses of aromatic, creamy white flowers open from deep red buds, which are followed by shimmering black fruits. Laurustinus is an extremely adaptable variety; the nectar rich blooms make excellent cut flowers and it is equally suited to borders or woodland edges. In order to attract pollinating insects to your garden, you could even create a dense evergreen hedge. This Scarlet Trumpet Honeysuckle will twine around a pergola, over an arbour or against a trellis, the scent from its flowers pervading the garden from June to August. Glossy red berries appear in late summer. This is a cultivar of Loniera x brownii, known for its vigour and striking flowers. Height: 4m (12’). Spread: 2m (6’).
