Taxus baccata Plants - 20 x 15 Litre Pots

Taxus baccata Plants – 20 x 15 Litre Pots £1160.73
The English Yew hedge plant, is the king of hedging. It is native, evergreen, dense, slow growing (so easy maintenance) and good in shade. It really doesn’t like wet, heavy clay soils but otherwise, it’s very easy to grow. Yew is one of the few evergreen species that can cope with being grown as a bare root plant so in autumn/winter (they’re available November to early April – sometimes late March) this is a really economic way to establish a new Yew hedge. Grows 20-40cm per year. Supplied in 15 litre pots.

Carpinus betulus Plants - 20 x 10 Litre Pots

Carpinus betulus Plants – 20 x 10 Litre Pots £809.73
The Hornbeam hedging plant is a very popular native species with very similar characteristics to Beech – in that it retains many of its leaves in winter (not quite as good as Beech) but they go coppery coloured (a bit less coppery than Beech – more of a brown/grey) – but this species has more deeply veined and pointed leaves and is very well suited to wetter soils. It’s a popular species to add in to native mixed hedging to give it some semi-evergreen quality and also very good as a single species hedge in a garden setting. Grows 20-40cm per year. Supplied in 10 litre pots.Potted Plants are a more developed plant as their root systems are not disturbed during the lifting and planting process. They can be planted year round and if necessary can be left in their pots for several weeks before planting if you are unsure as to when you will be able to get round to doing the work; all they need is a little water to keep them happy. As more mature plants you dont need quite as many per metre as the bare root plants (normally 3 to 5 would suffice depending on how dense you require your hedge and how quickly you need it to look established). Pots are a great way to create a new hedge effect more quickly.

Fagus sylvatica Plants - 20 x 10 Litre Pots

Fagus sylvatica Plants – 20 x 10 Litre Pots £728.73
Beech hedging becomes a beautiful, bright green hedge in spring/summer and then in autumn/winter, it retains its medium sized leaves but they turn dry and copper coloured so it has two distinctly different appearances depending on the season. Beech hedging plants are classy when cut to a formal shape but it can also be used as a semi-evergreen component in a mixed native hedge. It will grow to 5m (or perhaps even more) but because it’s just medium growth rate, it can be easily kept as a relatively low hedge – 1m upwards. It is a species that is really only suitable for free-draining soil – if your soil is wet/heavy clay, you should consider Hornbeam instead which has a very similar appearance but is better suited to wetter soils.Grows 30-60cm per year. Supplied in 10 litre pots.Potted Plants are a more developed plant as their root systems are not disturbed during the lifting and planting process. Buxus Sempervirens Plants – 20 x 6 Litre Pots £569.72
