There are many different types of snowdrops. Galanthus which means milk-white flowers is their latin name. Crimean snowdrop, Galanthus plicatus, Giant snowdrop, Galanthus elwesii, are the notable species.
In 2011 a single bulb was sold on an internet auction site for £350, breaking the previous record of £265. When they are well established then you can divide up the clumps of bulbs. Do it in the green – that is, when they have finished flowering.
