Stunning spring bulbs available to buy now at Suttons Seeds!
Ensure your garden has lots of spring colour by planning a spring bulb display. Buy now, and get them planted and in the spring they’ll appear and fill you garden with colour. Bulbs need to be planted at different depths so read the instructions carefully.
With most bulbs you need to dig out a hole, or use a bulb planter and ensure the soil at the bottom isn’t compacted else the water will gather there and cause the bulb to rot.
Leave flowered bulbs to die back before tidying up or mowing the lawn if you’ve naturalised them in grass.
Some bulbs look really good growing in lawn – crocus, snowdrops and daffodils especially the miniature ones all look fantastic. They can be planted using a bulb planter or put in place when you’re sewing a new lawn or turfing it. Put them somewhere you’ll see them. Some Bulbs are good for shaded areas too so under trees can work well. If you want them to appear natural – then scatter them by hand to get a random pattern and bury them where they land.
If you plant bulbs in tubs then squirrels might try and dig them up. Mesh is probably the best thing to stop them – you can try sneaking some chili peppers in the tub and see if they put the squirrels off too!
