Ever wanted raised beds but thought they’d be difficult to make or expensive?
This raised bed is easy to put together and produces a bed 1m square with a working height of 25cm. The advantages of raised beds are that you can grow crops more closely and the yields can be much higher. Someone’s got 50lb of potatoes from one starting with only 8 tubers.
A raised bed makes it easier to weed – get sat down and you should be able to reach the middle from any of the sides meaning less risk of injury overstretching.
You can put this raised bed on slabs or a patio even – use a liner to keep it neater – but it really can be used virtually anywhere! Make sure it’s in a sunny part of the garden and that you keep it watered – especially in hot weather.
Raised beds are also better for keeping the slugs away – although if you have a bad problem you should get the nemoslug slug killer. Nemaslug Nematodes at Unwins
