Mattocks to launch three new roses at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2010

Specialist rose grower, Mattocks, has announced that it will be launching three award-winning new roses at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

The County® of Staffordshire, Joie de Vivre and Pomponella roses will be introduced at the event, the world’s largest annual flower show, which opens on July 6th at the historic south west London venue.

“Joie de Vivre is lively, vibrant and extremely versatile,” said Jo Davey at Mattocks. “Its attractive colouring and subtle scent are complemented by superb health qualities and a height and spread of 50cm x 40cm, making it the ideal summer gift.”

Pomponella is a free flowering floribunda rose with unusual rich pink pompom shaped flowers emerging from small rounded buds. The rose, which features dark green foliage and an upright habit, is also lightly fragranced. As with all Mattocks roses, Pomponella is highly disease resistant. Height and spread is 80cm x 60cm and sold in 5L pots at a RRP of £11.99.

“Pomponella is a real head-turner,” says Jo Davey at Mattocks. “Its unique flower form will give this season’s buyers a new and appealing variation.”

Pomponella won ADR 2006, plus international Gold/Silver and Bronze Medals

Commenting on the new launches, John Lord, managing director at Mattocks’ parent company, John Woods Nurseries said, “In The County® of Staffordshire, Joie de Vivre and Pomponella, Mattocks will have a colourful and exciting presence at Hampton Court this year. These new additions to an already successful range of durable roses will be of interest to gardeners of all types, from the private individual to the landscape professional.”
