The Key plants featured in the Upwardly Mobile garden at Chelsea

Cornus Venus™ (‘Kn30-8’) – the Prestigious collection

Cornus VenusTM is recognisable by its extremely large creamy-white bracts which often reach a diameter of 15cm and appear for up to three weeks from mid to late May. The striking bracts make an unusual and long-lasting addition to cut-flower arrangements.

The plant is vigorous and hardy, has large glossy leaves and sets a large amount of flowering buds – even when young. Beautiful autumn colour in shades of yellow, orange and violet add an extra season of interest.

Coprosma Pacific Sunset (‘Jwncopps’) – First Edition

Pacific Sunset is a striking Coprosma with an evergreen, glossy foliage variegated with contrasting tones of bright coral and deep purple. The colour is most intense in spring and late autumn. With a neat upright habit, Pacific Sunset is ideal for patio containers with an eventual height and spread 1.5m and hardy to -5°C. The Coprosma Pacific Sunset won best patio plant innovation at IPM 2010, one of Europe’s largest professional horticultural trade shows held in Essen, Germany.

Diervilla Cool Splash (‘LPDC PODOSA’) – First Edition

Another member of the First Editions range, the US-developed Cool Splash™ is perfect for brightening up those dry shady spots. The eye-catching, crisp white variegation thrives in dry shade and is also happy in full sun. A densely-branched deciduous shrub closely related to Weigela, Diervilla sessilifolia Cool Splash™ is hardy, easy to grow and keeps its clean fresh variegation well into autumn. Producing tiny yellow flowers in late May/June, Cool Splash reaches a height and spread of approximately 1m x 1m in five years.

Endless Summer® Hydrangeas Pink and Blue (‘Bailmer’)

A summer-long bloomer – from June through to autumn frosts, these hydrangeas are highly versatile, producing flowers on old and new growth, meaning they are unaffected by late frosts or incorrect pruning.

The Endless Summer Hydrangea features fresh blue (acid soil) to lively-pink (alkaline soil) flowers. Mature height and spread are 1.5m x1.5m.

Endless Summer® ‘The Bride’ joined the Endless Summer range in 2008. Another season-long bloomer, The Bride displays large, glorious clusters of white flowers which gradually mature to a sweet, blush pink. Like all hydrangeas in the Endless Summer range, The Bride can be pruned at will without affecting its ability to bloom. The Bride will also provide spectacular cut flowers.

Endless Summer® Hydrangea Twist-n-Shout™

Hydrangea Twist-n-Shout™, is the newest member of the Endless Summer range of repeat-flowering Hydrangeas. Its blooms have a pink centre surrounded by warm pink florets, which in acidic soil take on a periwinkle blue hue. Visual appeal is further enhanced in autumn when the foliage takes on attractive burgundy-red autumn tints. Twist-n-Shout™ boasts extraordinary repeat flowering characteristics and superior hardiness thanks to its Penny Mac and Lady in Red parentage. Mature height and spread are 1.5m x1.5m.
