This latest variety of purple asparagus is significantly sweeter than even the sweetest green asparagus. The spears have less fibre and are particularly tender. A very attractive addition to salads, retaining their colour when steamed, particularly in the early part of the season. Expect the first spears to appear in late April. 12 crowns plants a row 4.5m (15′) long.Note: Asparagus Crowns will be despatched from late March/early April 2011, which is the correct time for planting.
