Prepare the ground by digging, raking and weeding and sow at 35-40g per square metre (1-1½oz per sq yard). The summer-autumn sown crop can be over-wintered and dug-in during the early spring. The spring to summer sown crop can be dug-in after 4-6 weeks, but will be at its best after 8-10 weeks, and must be dug in before flowering. Cut the Green Manure a few hours before digging in so that the top growth wilts, and dig the manure into the top 15cm (6″) of soil. Once the Green Manure has been dug-in it must be allowed to completely rot down for between 2-4 weeks before the land can be used (dependent on the thickness of the growth).
