The pods are of extraordinary size and length, packed with excellent quality white beans. Sowings for summer cropping should be made February-March. Sow in double rows 23cm (9″) apart, 5cm (2″) deep and 23cm (9″) apart allowing 90cm (3′) between each pair of rows. Pinch out the plant tops when in full flower to obtain better filled pods and to avoid infestation with black fly. Double row 6m (20′). Recommended for deep freezing and for exhibition. A truly compact trailing tomato! Perfect for pots and hanging baskets, bearing delicious cherry-sized fruit. Ideal for greenhouse or outdoor growing. Basket or container growing variety. (Bush/trailing.) GREENHOUSE CULTURE – To grow in heated greenhouses sow January onwards, in a temperature of 16-18°C (60-65°F). Transplant into small pots. Plant out in large pots, growing bags, or into a soil border at 45cm (18″) spacing. Pinch out side shoots regularly and when in flower tap or shake plants daily to aid setting. For growing in unheated greenhouses, sow in warmth, from March onwards. Plant late April-early May. Harvest mid August-mid October. Dot not remove side shoots. Support is not essential, but short stakes will help control the plants and keep fruit clean. Whilst mildish in flavour it’s a little more robust than others offered here due to its slightly higher dry matter content. A fine choice if you only have room for one autumn onion.Senshyu Yellow (picture 2) – An extremely popular Japanese over-wintering variety, reliably producing a heavy crop of semi-globe-shaped, straw-coloured bulbs of excellent quality, which should be ready to harvest in early July. Full growing instructions included. Choose a well-drained sunny position where the soil is reasonably good. Plant by setting the onion sets 10cm (4″) apart in rows 30cm (12″) apart from mid September to early November so that only the tips of the small bulbs show above the soil surface. 200g of onion sets – approximately 50 sets – will plant a row of about 5m (16′).
