Winter sowing lettuce

Thompson & Morgan have some winter lettuce – worth a look if you’re after growing some veg this winter but haven’t yet planted anything.
Lettuce ‘Gem Collection’ (Cos) – 2 packets – 1 of each variety (1400 seeds in total) £2.69
Thompson & Morgan’s Gem Lettuce Collection comprises one packet each of: – Little Gem (Summer-Autumn): Very compact, high-quality, small heads which are sweet and tasty. Useful for catch crops and small gardens. – Winter Gem (January-May): A specially-bred Little Gem Cos for sowing from September to January and for growing in a unheated greenhouse or in a cold frame for over-winter production.
Corn Salad ‘Cavallo’ – 1 packet (650 seeds) £2.29
Corn Salad Cavallo keeps on producing a mass of fresh flavoured, deep green ‘lamb’s lettuce’ leaves. A late summer sowing will guarantee winter salads.
Lettuce ‘Winter Gem’ (Cos) – 1 packet (150 seeds) £2.09
A specially bred Little Gem Cos for sowing from September to January and for growing in a unheated greenhouse or in a cold frame for overwinter production (not suitable for growing outdoors). Lettuce Winter Gem has delicious small, crunchy, sweet hearts equal in taste to Little Gem, will be ready to harvest from January onwards, for use in winter salads.
