Cabbage seeds from Suttons

So many varieties you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Some suggest growing with the intention of harvesting one a month. Unless you eat tons of cabbage now then don’t over do the numbers. They do look good though – especially the savoys!
Grow a mixture. The seeds should keep for a number of years if stored in a dry cool place.
Cabbage growing hints.
They can be started in a propagator.
They need about 50cm square spare each.
Plant out into firm ground.
Protect from slugs during all growing stages until they are good sized plants when they will be able to withstand attack.
Protect from pigeons who will eat them in the winter.
Watch out for butterflies too – one net can protect from birds and butterflies.
Harvest with a knife cutting across the stem. Cut a cross in the stem and you might get re-growth!
Feed with a high nitrogen feed – they need to make leaves – this is the bit that you eat, so feed nitrogen to encourage leafy growth.
Squish any eggs you find on the leaves.
