I grew some this year from seed. They produced quite a few fruits that ripened fully and a few that didn’t.

As you can see they didn’t really have any seeds in – not a problem, they were a F1 variety anyway that wouldn’t come true from saved seeds.
I turned these into soup after roasting them in the oven for about 20 minutes.
Suttons have two types available as seeds:

Squash Seeds – F1 Hunter £3.99
An early ripening butternut variety providing a very heavy crop throughout late summer and autumn. Fruit are a lovely buff colour, with fine-flavoured orange flesh, and store well. Average fruit weight 800g – 1Kg. Trailing type, but shorter than American bred varieties

Squash Seeds – F1 Butterpie £2.99
Bred for the UK climate. A unique British bred butternut squash. Very easy to grow, producing good crops of attractive, acorn-shaped fruit with straw-coloured skin. Simply cut the fruit into convenient ‘pie’ wedges and roast! – no more difficult necky and bulbous shaped fruits to negotiate! Butterpie will easily set around four 1.5-2kg fruits per semi trailing plant.
Suttons also have gratef plants:
Commercially the grafting method has been used for some time, but we’ve developed them for the home gardener, and early adopters have had extraordinary results: Big increases in yield from larger, more vigorous plants Earlier cropping, yet with sufficient vigour to crop well later in the season Grow in the greenhouse or outdoors – little or no heating required –
Squash Grafted Plants – Hunter £4.99

So many varieties you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Some suggest growing with the intention of harvesting one a month. Unless you eat tons of cabbage now then don’t over do the numbers. They do look good though – especially the savoys!
Grow a mixture. The seeds should keep for a number of years if stored in a dry cool place.
Cabbage growing hints.
They can be started in a propagator.
They need about 50cm square spare each.
Plant out into firm ground.
Protect from slugs during all growing stages until they are good sized plants when they will be able to withstand attack.
Protect from pigeons who will eat them in the winter.
Watch out for butterflies too – one net can protect from birds and butterflies.
Harvest with a knife cutting across the stem. Cut a cross in the stem and you might get re-growth!
Feed with a high nitrogen feed – they need to make leaves – this is the bit that you eat, so feed nitrogen to encourage leafy growth.
Squish any eggs you find on the leaves.

The Potato Book by Alan Romans £16.99
Gardening books are always a treasure as well as a great gardening resource. Sharing his ‘overwhelming enthusiasm for the humble spud’ and a lifetime’s experience in the seed potato industry, Alan Romans combines an engaging account of potato growing with an expert guide to over 150 potato varieties currently available and shows just how easy potatoes are to grow! It traces the history of the potato from its beginnings in South America to the development of variety breeding and explains all aspects of growing from choosing seed potatoes, planting and maintenance, to harvest, storage, and pests and diseases. 144 pages. 150 colour illustrations. Hardback.
I’m going to grow some potatoes in sacks again this year but have them nearest the water barrels on my plot. This will make it easier for me to water them. The potatoes are lovely from bags. I used muck and comfrey leaves last year in the bags and dropped a few potatoes in each sack and then added more manure. I think it worked well and I figured out that you can leave the sacks to dry out when the haulms die off and then you can store the spuds like that .. fold the bags over and they stay dry!
