Brunnera macrophylla ‘Jack Frost’ (PBR) (Siberian bugloss) £6.99
Position: partial shade Soil:fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average to fast Flowering period: April to May Hardiness: fully hardy In early spring, large, mid-green, heart-shaped leaves that look as though they have been dusted with silver appear, followed by tall sprays of tiny, bright blue, forget-me-not-like flowers. For the best variegation, a sheltered, shady site is essential. Although it prefers moist conditions, brunnera will tolerate dry soil once established, and will spread to form a large clump. This is a gorgeous groundcover plant for the front of a border, or lighting up moist, shady areas under the canopy of deciduous trees, or for edging a woodland path. Garden care: Cut back to the base of the plant any stems with leaves that revert to plain green. Lift and divide the plant every two or three years in late autumn.

Garden care: Water regularly during dry spells and deadhead to prolong flowering. After flowering cut the flowered stems to the ground and apply a generous mulch of well-rotted garden compost or horse manure around the base of the plant.
Geranium ‘Tumbling Heart’ (geranium) £5.99
Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average to fast growing Flowering period: May to September Hardiness: fully hardy Garden care: Carefully weed by hand as hoeing can break rhizomes, which are very close to the surface. Lift and divide large colonies in spring.
Dryopteris filix-mas (male fern) £5.99

This large, deciduous fern has feathery, green fronds which form a distinctive, shuttlecock shape and turn coppery in autumn. It makes a fine companion for shade-loving woodland plants, especially other ferns, and when its leaves die back, the space can be filled with early flowering spring bulbs such as snowdrops. Garden care: Incorporate lots of well-rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles or garden compost into the planting hole. Cut back dead fronds in winter.
Lythrum virgatum ‘Dropmore Purple’ (loosestrife) £5.99
Position: full sun Soil: fertile, deep, moist soil Rate of Growth: average to fast Flowering period: June to August Flowers: purple-red Other features: attracts wildlife Hardiness: fully hardy Intense purple-red flowers appear on tall flower spikes from early summer above lance-shaped foliage. This is a spectacularly colourful plant for watersides, pond banks and woodland borders where the soil is reliably moist.
