The deep wine coloured leaves of this recent introduction from a breeding programme in America provides the garden with a compact and dense deciduous shrub which is just as at home at the back of the border to show off different coloured plants or at the front being the centre of attention. Lots of small pink/white flowers form clusters at the end of the stems throughout summer to offer a great contrast against the deep coloured foliage which remnains on the plant well into the autumn.
