Small greenhouse

Small greenhouse

mini greenhouse – at the Garden Centre Online
This Walk In Greenhouse includes 4 Shelves. It’s quite small and compact and will be a useful addition to the garden. This small greenhouse is suitable for someone with very small space, who needs a sheltered space for starting off plants, protecting plants from frosts, and stopping the birds eating with seedlings. It isn’t too big so will be suitable for very small spaces and patios. It has four shelves, to either side. This does mean you couldn’t use the sides for growing tomatoes but the would be nothing to stop you having want across the width of the back. You would still be able to access the shelves, and could use these for trays of plants, such as basil, lettuce, and anything else that needs the protection.

It is excellent value at only £25.99. This makes it ideal as a starter greenhouse, and will make a difference to how early you can start your growing season. It will protect plants from the worst of weather, but you will not be to provide heat for plants in this greenhouse. It will be good for starting off plants that do not require heat, but do need to be kept out of the cold. It is easy to assemble, having a simple push to get the system metal frame. The cover is made from polythene, this is flexible and does offer some protection as it has good insulation properties.

For someone looking for tiny greenhouse at a very low cost, this is perfect. It will certainly give your plants a head start compared to being outside. The raised shelves also mean your plants will be clear of slugs. It will also stop birds ripping your seedlings!

large-oak-whiskey-barrel-water-butt
large-oak-whiskey-barrel-water-butt £119.99
An attractive water butt made from an ex-distillery,212 litres (56 gallon) oak barrel. Please note: there is a real scotch whiskey smell in the barrel you may wish to wash it out before first use. These barrels may have coloured paint on the top this is a feature of feature of these ex-distillery barrels. we would advise this can be painted over using a black gloss paint if required to make it look more natural in the garden. You can raise your barrel off the ground with a brick or paving slab base to enable you to fill watering cans from the tap.We cannot guarantee how many years these barrels will last, but can give you some tips on how to look after your barrel for longer life. During a hot summer you should never fully empty the barrel but keep some water in the barrel so the timber does not shrink and leak. Also siting the barrel in a shaded position will give the barrel a longer life.A 83mm hole has been cut in the top to fit most standard sized drain pipes (see instructions at bottom if you want to fit a rain diverter). Also a 20mm hole has been cut 16cm from the base ready to fit a standard brass tap (simply screw the tap into the wood and it will give a tight fit). This barrel has been photographed with a decorative tap (not included) Please note this water butt is large, measuring approximately 100cm tall, 70cm in diameter, and may not fit through a standard single doorway easily.Fitting a rain diverter To fit a rain diverter  to this water barrel it can be done! Here are our tips to help you. First of all the hole for the rain diverter would need to be 12cm down from the top due to the metal banding on the barrel. (So your water butt will never fill to the top) You will need to cut a 25mm hole – this can be done with a hole saw on an arbour that fits a normal electric drill 25mm Hole Saw and Arbour.  The elbow of the rain diverter can then be screwed into this hole and this will normally give a watertight fit (the plastic nut supplied is not required) – however if it does not a little plumbers PTFE tape can help.

Stone paving

Stone paving

There’s so many wonderful ways of using stone within your garden – you’ll find some inspiring ideas here at Simply Paving.
Creating hard landscaping in your garden is a useful and practical way of making it more accessible, as well as making it more interesting.

By adding pathways, paved areas, even walled beds, you add interest and variety to your garden. You can pick from different types of stone, in different colours and styles. You can mix and match within your garden, picking out the stones you like to see.

If you have been planning the paved area in your garden then you will be very impressed with the range of paving stones and designs available from simply paving. There are circular paving kits, which are stunning and available in a variety of size stones as different types. This allows you to create a unique feature within your garden, picking the colours and stones that you like to make the feature very personal to you.

With the proper paved seating area, you can then enjoy your garden all year round, it’s somewhere to place the chimera and chairs, so you should pick the sunniest part of your garden that you would like to sit in.

Shop online at Simply Paving for some stunning paving.
Take care planning where you don’t put your seating area, think back to the summer and where you actually liked sitting, whether you like the shade or the sun. Make the area big enough for everything you want to do. If you want a barbecue area and is sure you have room for this as well. If you just want the seating place the chairs and a table, then bear this in mind when picking the size you want.

You can build flowerbeds with brick walls. By adding variations of height into your garden you will add interest, and you can then use different planting in a raised bed. For instance you can then use trailing plants, which normally would only use the hanging basket.
